3rd annual retreat 2018
Please join your fellow Buck Scholars build and strengthen the BSA. If you're free on June 9th and 10th, and in the Northern CA region, please consider making time in your schedules for fun, friends, and future (thinking)!

THE itinerary
June 8th-10th, 2019
San Francisco, CA
- Friday night (optional): guests arrive, hotel check-in at Villa Florence
- Saturday 10:30-1: arrival and sign in
- Saturday 10:30-1:30p: Food Tour of the Mission, led by Kelsey Elliott. We will visit 4-6 different locations, so come hungry!**
- Saturday 3-5p: workshops and presentations in conference rooms at Villa Florence
- Saturday 5:30p: walk to dinner at One Market Restaurant, off of the Embarcadero BART station
- Saturday 5:30-7p: cocktail and brief welcome
- Saturday 7-11p: dinner, dancing, and photobooth
- Saturday 11p: Return to Villa Florence
- Sunday 8-9:30a: breakfast
- Sunday 10-11:30: workshops and breakout sessions with BSA at Villa Florence
- Sunday noon-5pm: Lunch and live Horse Racing at Golden Gate Fields!***
**Please meet at 10:20 am at the corner of 18th and Dolores, under the sign that says "Mission Dolores Park" next to the grass (at the end of the tennis courts). We will begin promptly at 10:30, so don't be late! If you are late to the food tour and you have reserved a place, please call me to see where we are. If you have not reserved a place, I recommend meeting us for sessions at the Villa Florence for sessions at 3.
***It will be the last day of live horse racing for the season, and dollar day. Meaning, hot dogs, drinks, and beer will all be $1! If you are new to horse racing, I will give a brief explanation of how betting works at the end of the Sunday sessions. Admission, parking, a racing program, and lunch will all be included. I really encourage everyone to go, it's really fun!
Accommodations
Villa Florence, San Francisco

While the retreat events are compliments of the BSA, there are hotel accommodations available for guests to book at a discounted rate. The hotel is 2 blocks from Powell BART, and 1 block from Union Square. The discounted rate is quite low, and fees have been waived, so if you you intend on staying in SF, I strongly recommend considering taking advantage of this rate!

Rate: $165 per night for a king or double queen room for both Friday and Saturday nights, or just 1 night. The nightly facility fee has been waived, and wifi is free! Parking is not included (see below for parking instructions). To book using this rate, PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Sharing rooms: Please let us know below if you would like to room with another scholar (and specify if you know who!), and we will pair up and email you all so you can coordinate bookings.
Financial need: If you are in need of any financial assistance, please let us know below in the RSVP form If you would be unable to attend without any financial aid, the BSA has rooms available (for both Friday and Saturday nights).
Parking: The Villa Florence offers parking (with ins and outs) at $59.99/day. The cheapest parking in the area is at the Ellis/O'farrell garage (only 1 block away) for $36/day. THERE ARE NO INS AND OUTS AT THE ELLIS GARAGE. For more information, you can call the garage at (415) 986-4800.
What to bring
Warm clothes: San Francisco weather can get chilly, especially at night. Please make sure you bring a sweater or 2!
Comfortable shoes: We will be doing a lot of walking: the food tour will be a few hours of walking and we will be taking public transportation. Please make sure your shoes are comfortable!
A hat for the races: It will be the last race day of the season at Golden Gate Fields. Hats are totally optional (you don't need to dress fancy to go to the races), but if you'd like to sport something fun, feel free!
Cash: If you plan on betting on the races, they don't accept cards. If you want to avoid any transaction fees, have a few dollars on hand.
